Letters of Authority and Change of Agency
An IFA is your agent, and works for you – not for a company which offers life assurance, investment, mortgages etc. I can’t get any information about your finances unless you give written authority for the companies to tell me what I need to know.
If you have previously used an IFA, they will still be the agent for your pensions etc. until you change this, again by writing to the companies. An IFA could still be receiving commission payments from your investments, even though they are not giving you any customer service.
I will ask you to sign a standard letter of authority and change of agency. I will use the letter only for the companies you want me to contact.
